script instructions:
** important step **
if an object is deleted from a scene and then that action is undone, you still lose access to all of its controllers. Before running this script, make sure to save your file, close it and re-open it. this will restore any previously lost access to any object's controllers.
1. run keyDataRecorder_v1p5.mse
2. select keyData recorder from Utilities dropdown list
(recording key data)
1. select all the objects in the scene that you want to record their key data
2. enter the frameRange in which to record the key data (if you leave the start frame blank, it will default to 0 and
if you leave the end frame blank, it will default to the last frame that contains a key)
3. click the recordKeyData button which will prompt you to select or create a .dat file to store the names of all the selected objects
4. after selecting the file and clicking Save, the progress bar will display the progress in recording the key data
5. a sub folder will be created named - "keyData" which will contain a file for each selected's objects key data as well
as a file containing variable data which will be named - "keyData__Report.dat"
(loading key data)
1. enter the frame in which you want to start creating keys (if you leave the frame blank, it will just set keys with the
frame values stored in the key data file)
2. click the the loadKeyData button which will prompt you to select the .dat file that has the names of all the selected objects
3. after selecting the file and clicking Open, the progress bar will display the progress in loading the key data
4. if any of the controllers are not loaded, a messageBox will alert you to the report file
extra information:
1. the script recursively searches for every animated controller for every selected object
2. when the keyData file is loaded, it makes sure the object still exists in the scene; no keys will be created for
deleted objects
3. further, if the controller is no longer keyable (ie script controller), no keys will be created for that controller
